Today, I want to give y’all a sneak peak into the way we do birthdays in our house. Let’s just say… we don’t take birthdays lightly. Haha. I also really want to share with you all the wonderful things that happened in my 16th year. It was a jam-packed year full of growing, learning and making awesome memories. 16 was such an amazing year that I can’t wait to see what 17 will look like.
My crazy birthday festivities started once Sue and I got home from helping at our church’s VBS program. I was getting ready upstairs, when I heard this really loud knock on the front door. We all went sprinting outside to find a note lying on the ground and a person wearing a wig and a white sheet running down the street. That was just weird. Lol. The note said to go over to my sister’s and brother-in-laws house right then. Thankfully, they only live one block away. So we all took off making a scene of ourselves to the neighbors, I’m sure they thought we were slightly crazy. Haha. Once we got to her house, I walked in and got completely shocked and surprised to find our family friends standing there. That was such an awesome surprise. Somehow the whole family knew except me. Way to go, fam! We spent the afternoon having a pizza building competition. That is such a fun and creative activity. Liza, who’s the same age as me, and I made this epic pizza with the skyline of Chicago on it. That was a super fun day.
Birthdays in our house are a really big deal. We go all out with the celebrating. My actual birthday was on a Friday, but we celebrated with the entire family on Saturday. We rarely get the whole fam together on our actual bdays. It was such a fun day hanging out together, opening presents and eating mouthwatering food. I actually made (for the first time ever) a chocolate ice-cream cake for dessert. I was surprised that it turned out pretty good. I wish I could virtually send each of you a piece! I got this awesome cake recipe from addapinch.com.
Just some of the quick highlights of my 16th year would be, for sure, starting “Hello Modesty”. I have absolutely loved doing this over the past year! I got my precious little pup last July. She is a little cutie. We took some awesome trips back to our favorite vacation spot, Chicago. Those are some awesome memories. I mentored three little girls at a local public school. That was an incredible opportunity to share Christ’s love. I got my braces OFF! Hallelujah! That seriously is something to rejoice over. Haha.
There’s a short (lol) description of all that happened in my 16th year. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Christ does this next year in my life.
